What To Expect

Are you new to the Milam Street church of Christ? If so, we are so thankful that you took the time to stop by. If you have never attended services with us we want to show you what you can expect when visiting with us the first time…

First, you will be greeted warmly by one or more of our members and be shown where the class for your children is, or where to sit for our auditorium adult class. At this time, you will be given a workbook if we are using one and shown which lesson we are on. Then the class will begin shortly.

Second, you will never be asked to publicly embarrass yourself by standing and introducing yourself. As well, we will never ask for your money or a donation. The support of this local work belongs to our members. We want you to feel welcome in our assembly, and we strive to never embarrass our visitors who have joined us.

At 9:30 we have Bible classes. These classes are taught with love by a capable teacher for about 45 minutes. The teaching will be Bible focused and practical to help your family know more about God and what His will is for you and your family.

At 10:30 we have our general worship. This will consist of a few brief announcements which are then followed by a period of singing and prayer for about 8-10 minutes.
After this time we stop for our weekly observance of the communion which consists of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine. This communion is open to all people and you are free to partake if you want.

Immediately after this, the men will give the congregation an opportunity to give back to God for support of the local work. This contribution is only for our members and we do not solicit funds from our community. As a visitor you are not expected to give anything!

A song will follow and then our preacher, Shane Millard, will give a relevant and applicable lesson for about 30 minutes. At the end of the lesson we offer an invitation by way of singing an song. During this time if someone wants to speak with the preacher, confess sin, or be baptized into Christ, they will come forward and sit with the preacher.

After this song we will welcome everyone back for our evening service, sing a closing song, and end with a prayer. The service will run about an hour, ending at about 11:30.

At 5:00 PM we have another time of general worship that follows a very similar form to our morning worship at 10:30.

We would be glad to have you join us at any opportunity you may have.
