The Bible says Obey the Gospel
The gospel is good news. God has provided the way we can be saved. If we do not obey the gospel, we cannot be saved.
“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’” (Romans 10:16). In the context of this passage we see the gospel is to be preached (vs. 15). The preaching will produce faith (vs. 17). The gospel then MUST be obeyed.
“…in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:8). This passage tells us the eternal consequences of refusing to obey the gospel. It is clear what we should expect, when the Lord returns, if we do not obey. The next verse says, “These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,” (2 Thessalonians 1:9).
“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17). This verse also reminds us that those who have not obeyed the gospel are unprepared for the judgment.
The gospel truly is good news, to those who obey. Would you hear the word (Romans 10:17), believe that Jesus is the Christ (Mark 16:16), repent of your sins (Luke 13:3), confess Jesus as the Christ (Matthew 10:32), and be baptized for the remission of your sins (Acts 2:38)? We would love to assist you in obeying the gospel.
